Sun Health Foundation is committed to bringing superior health and wellbeing to the West Valley of the Phoenix metropolitan area. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we’ve served our local community for more than 50 years. To this day, we continue to support excellent patient care, landmark research initiatives and provide health and wellness programs. We’re driven to make a positive impact in our community and enhance every life we touch.
Bringing Good To Our Community
Sun Health Foundation is an organization driven by passion. Specifically, a passion to improve the wellbeing of our community and the quality of life of its residents.
While our roster of philanthropic efforts is extensive, we primarily focus on supporting:
- Banner Boswell Medical Center
- Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center
- Banner Sun Health Research Institute
- Sun Health Wellness, including wellness classes and services open to the community
We’re fortunate to partner with these outstanding organizations and academic institutions that share our mission to champion superior health and wellbeing. These partnerships have resulted in health care advancements, internationally recognized research and innovative community health programs.

Welcome to the Warren D. Ruff Scholarship Fund application.
The primary purpose of the Warren D. Ruff Fund, totaling $6.4 million (with the intent that 5% will be awarded each year), is to provide academic scholarships to increase the number of trained nurses and nursing-related health professionals who live and work in Arizona.
Priority will be given to nurses and nursing candidates employed at Sun Health, Banner Boswell Medical Center and Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in Phoenix’s West Valley.
The Warren D. Ruff Scholarship Fund reflects the impact generosity can have for generations in creating a world where people live longer, healthier, more purposeful lives.
Scholarship applications will be considered individually every semester for number of applicants according to priority eligibility and program criteria, as well as semester funding available. Scholarship candidates must have applied for the program at a minimum to be considered with proof of enrollment in courses for the scholarship being required for all scholarship applicants by the time of verification. Prior scholarship award may not guarantee future scholarships. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
