When you log in to our website, we establish a session between our server and your browser to manage the transfer of information between our server and your computer, tablet or phone. We use cookies to manage this session. The session may time out if there is no activity after a certain amount of time.
Please remember to save your work if you are going to step away from your computer or work on a single page for any length of time. We suggest saving your work at least every 30 minutes. Until you click on the "Save", "Next" or "Previous" buttons on the page you are working on the information is only on your computer, tablet or phone and not on our server. Once you click on "Save" it is transferred to our server.
Our server is configured to timeout on an inactive session connection after 4 hours for security reasons. Your work or network service provider (the cable or telephone company) may timeout on an inactive session more quickly for network resource reasons. Your browser may also have its own timeout for an inactive session. Unfortunately, we do not have any control over the timeout period set by your work or network service provider or browser, although 30 minutes seems to be safe with most. Your session timeout value will be the shorter of our timeout value (4 hours), your work or network service providers timeout value or your browsers timeout value.
If you are seeing a timeout that occurs consistently, or after a relatively short period of time, we'd suggest clearing cookies in your browser, trying a different browser, asking your work IT staff about their network hardware, proxy and firewall session timeout settings or working from a different location. Additional information and possible solutions for browser session timeouts may be found by searching on the Internet (e.g. search for "Firefox session timeout").
